Maurice wrote the screenplay for the feature film Owning Mahowny (Sony Pictures Classics), based on the book “No Limit” by Gary Ross, starring Phillip Seymour Hoffman, John Hurt and Minnie Driver. For his work on that film, he received a Genie Award (Canada) nomination for best adapted screenplay. Maurice has written feature films for Paramount, Nickelodeon and 20th Century Fox, television for Fox TV and interactive drama for Skybound Entertainment. He wrote and directed the short films Suicide Sam and Three-Fifty, which played in film festivals world-wide and won several awards. His produced plays include Ascension, A Safe Distance, All Night Radio, Bobby Zero and Wild Kingdom. A Safe Distance received an Ovation Award Nomination (Los Angeles) for best world premiere play and was included on Backstage West’s Critics’ List. A revised version of that play was workshopped with the The New Group in New York City, where it received a staged reading. Maurice's most recent play, Cousin Fred, received a staged reading at the Skylight Theater Company in Hollywood. His short gothic novel, The Deathwatch, is available on Amazon. Maurice is a co-founder and co-artistic director of Apartment A, a theater company based in Los Angeles, CA.
